How To Let The Sunshine In This Summer
It’s summer, and the sun is shining, so why not make the most of it by installing more glass around your home. Glass doors are an excellent way to open up the house for summer parties and BBQs and conservatories and glass rooms and are excellent in the winter for vitamin D.
Bay Windows
Bay windows live up to their name. Designed to give a room a spacious and luxury quality, bay windows are an excellent way to let the light in this summer. If you install bay windows, you can enjoy looking out at your garden in the early hours while holding a favourite hot drink in silence.
If you have space in your home for bay windows, there is no reason not to install them and enjoy the benefits, but if you don’t have a natural alcove for them, don’t worry. Bay windows can be installed in a traditional flat wall with the right investment and the right choice of windows.
Bi-Folding Doors
During the summer, there is nothing better than taking down the barrier between the inside and the outside of your home, and there is no better way to do this than with bi-folding doors. Bi-folding doors are trending right now because they offer plenty of light and lots of functionality.
The good news is you don’t need any special infrastructure for your bi-folding doors; all you need is some space for doors that lead onto a patio of some decking. With bi-folding doors, you can enjoy plenty of natural light and fresh air. They are also low maintenance and economical.
Sliding Doors
Similar to bi-folding doors, sliding doors offer the home plenty of natural light and help to save space. As with other natural lighting options sliding doors help to add value to the home and increase the living standards of residents. But sliding doors have some additional advantages.
Bi-folding doors are a lovely option, and they are currently trending, but they don't save space in the same way as sliding doors. Sliding doors require zero additional space indoors and still provide the same levels of natural light. Sliding doors might also be somewhat cheaper overall.
Conservatories
If you want more space in your home but don’t want to be a prisoner to the weather, then consider installing a conservatory. Depending on where you live, you may or may not need planning permission for a conservatory, but don’t let it put you off if you happen to need one.
Conservatories give you an additional living room that you can use for relaxing or socializing. They are typically made from glass, giving you plenty of natural light and trapping the heat; this is a big advantage if you live in a cooler climate that normally gets some rain in summer.
Glass Rooms
What is the difference between a conservatory and a glass room? That’s easy, a conservatory might have some brick and mortar elements, whilst a glass room features glass floor to ceiling. A glass room makes an excellent sunroom, especially for areas with low levels of sun in winter.
