How to Keep Your Conservatory Warm This Winter
During the summer, your conservatory is likely one of your favourite places. It’s the perfect place to connect with nature, enjoy plenty of sunlight and relax under the stars - all from the comfort of your own home. However, when the weather turns dark and the temperatures drop, you may find yourself avoiding spending time in your conservatory because it’s just too cold.
If you’re wondering how you can keep your conservatory warm and cosy this winter, you’ve come to the right place. Follow our top tips below to keep your conservatory warm this winter.
Make sure you’ve got double glazing
Firstly, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got sufficient glazing. A single pane of glass is never going to be an excellent insulator; instead, the type of glass you choose will determine how well your conservatory is insulated. Different grades of glazing can make a huge difference to the warmth of your conservatory. Make sure you have double glazing at the very minimum.
Get rid of draughts
Draughts will quickly affect the temperature of your conservatory and make it an uncomfortable place to relax. Look out for breaks and poorly fitted draught exclusion points around doors and windows and have them replaced or repaired before the cold weather hits. It’s also important to make sure all the windows and doors have sufficient draught proofing to keep the space warm and cosy.
Invest in window coverings, drapes and throws
The key to creating a cosy, warm environment is to make it look and feel cosy. Buying and installing blinds and drapes can help retain heat in the room and shut out any cold air. They can also help to minimise draughts too. Invest in some throws and blankets for your conservatory; if you feel a bit chilly or you want to cosy up with a book, they’ll make the perfect addition and help keep you that little bit warmer.
Heat it up
When the weather is freezing cold outside, it’s important you have some sort of heating system in place - even if it’s just a portable radiator. Unfortunately, double glazing and cosy blankets aren’t going to keep your conservatory warm enough on their own. The most efficient way to heat your conservatory up when temperatures are cold outside is with a radiator connected to your central heating system. Alternatively, electric radiators are popular as they’re cheap to buy and can be installed without much disruption.
